FOR THE LOVE of our shared Whidbey Island habitat
The Whidbey Island Garden Tour is an all-volunteer, nonprofit that was established in 1996 when a group of islanders organized to Save the Woods on Saratoga. The WIGT mission is to provide funding to local causes and nonprofit organizations supporting the improvement, restoration, education, and maintenance of our common Whidbey Island habitat.
Over the past 25 years, the tour and sponsors have raised more than $500,000 and have distributed the vast majority to over sixty causes meeting our mission objectives. In 2022, they granted over $14,000 to their selected grant recipients.
Over the decades, more than 80 private gardens have been opened to the delight of the public. Their trained volunteers serve throughout each garden to direct parking, control access, manage traffic flow, and provide information about the wonders of Whidbey Island.
