There’s North Whidbey and there is the very north end of Whidbey Island, which is bookended by Naval Air Station Whidbey Island along with Dugualla Bay and Deception Pass State Park (the most visited state park in Washington). From the sandy dunes on the western side to the unique shoreline formations like Ala Spit, all varieties of waterfronts are found on the northern end of Whidbey Island. Residents with mountain views will enjoy seeing stunning alpenglow from the Cascade mountains at sunrise or the Olympic Mountains at sunset. Dugualla Bay, located halfway between Oak Harbor and Deception Pass, is home to rural pasture lands and an estuary teeming with birdlife. Hope and Goat islands, located in Skagit Bay, add to the waterfront views from Whidbey. Most of the properties are a hodgepodge of developed parcels at all prices interspersed between a few developed neighborhoods. Affordable neighborhoods such as Northgate Terrace are located near some of Whidbey’s most expensive developments like Surfcrest. It is just as convenient to dine out in Anacortes as it is in Oak Harbor thanks to easy access to Highway 20. The area is home to a few gems that add to North Whidbey’s charm. Lam’s Links, a par-three golf course located near Deception Pass, provides an affordable course for golfers of all abilities to work on their short game. Soundview Shopper provides a convenient place to grab a gallon of milk or gas as well as other necessities. A farm stand located on the highway near Dugualla Bay offers farm-fresh food and other treats.
The Deception Pass bridge, which is 180 feet above the water, is one of the reasons the surrounding park is the most popular in Washington state. It provides a launching point to Fidalgo Island, Anacortes, and the mainland. Oak Harbor, which is the largest town on Whidbey Island, and the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station is a quick drive on the highway that connects the towns on the island.
