Useless Bay Colony is made of a few different developments but is only part of one of the most sought after areas on all of Whidbey Island. You can see a map here. There are various accounts on it’s namesake but it’s clear that hundreds of years ago mariners considered it’s shallow bay useless. Residents who enjoy Useless Bay waterfront today would proclaim its usefulness for its incredible views expanding over of the bay, Deer Lagoon, Puget Sound and the Seattle sky scrappers across the horizon. The community around the Useless Bay Golf & Country Club offers access to pool, workout room, private beach, path to the bird lagoon, tennis, pickle ball courts and more! Many find the short distance to the renowned Doubled Bluff Beach Park an added bonus. This rare style of a planned community used to be a large salt marsh before developers pushed earth around, dredged, and carved out a canal from Puget Sound down to finger canals lined with floating docks and gangways connecting them to backyards.

Useless Bay is a stunning waterfront community comprised of both single level and two-story homes with a mixture of breathtaking high-end beach estates located just lightly under four miles southeast of the town of Freeland and less than a 20-minute drive to the Clinton/Mukilteo ferry terminal located at the southern tip of the Island.
